Artist Olga Kozlovskaya at RED Exhibition
Olga Kozlovskaya’s exhibition is a series of unpublished works collected as ‘RED’.
It presents 15 paintings made in a conceptually complex technique typical of the artist. The paintings represent executing a cast from an image where the paint was previously applied to a prepared surface. The chain of actions that Kozlovskaya puts at the service of the pictorial process enables the following: the artist places materials of different nature and density on a pre-selected surface and then overlays an acrylic-treated canvas, on which matter, imprinting itself, becomes a substance distinct from itself.
Possessing a remarkable dexterity and creating a direct connection between gesture and surface, Olga Kozlovskaya creates a conceptual space for questions and reflections on the nature of painting while simultaneously conducting intense intellectual work and performing specific actions, reducing everything to the objectivity of the process.
An essential component of the new works is the dominant presence of red in the countermelody on the earthy tones that structure the composition.
The exhibition ‘RED’ by Olga Kozlovskaya can be seen until 11.04.2023 at Atticus Arts Gallery (11a Queen Street, Bath).
